Consultation with a surgeon is sometimes free of charge; however more and more surgeons are charging a fee for the initial consultation. This fee is for their time. If the consultation is free, often the time is not taken seriously and potential clients do not show up, therefore the surgeon loses time he/she could have spent seeing other patients. In most cases the fee will be subtracted or deducted from the surgery fee if and when the potential client schedules a surgical procedure.
