Breast Lift Advantages

A breast lift is also known as a mastopexy. This requires the removal of excess fat and tissue to lift and tighten the tissue in the breast area for a more firm appeal. Factors such as weightloss, pregnancy, breastfeeding, age and other variables cause a loss of skin elasticity and ultimately affect the shape and firmness of breasts. Patients who are pleased with the size of their breasts but desire to raise and firm their breasts can have a breast lift, resulting in a more youthful breast contour. Laser Bra Breast Surgery

Laser bra surgery is a technique designed to offer stronger internal support to lift and enhance the breasts and maintain a more firm appearance. This procedure can be used for breast reduction, breast lift and also certain breast augmentation surgeries.

Because laser bra surgery is a fairly new surgical procedure, a smaller percentage of plastic surgeons have experience with the laser bra procedure. When searching for the right surgeon, it's important to select one with extensive experience in all of the breast-related surgeries and procedures. Review the doctor's credentials, education, training, type of certification held-specifically for use of a laser. Ask if the surgeon has performed the surgery and the number of times. Ask to view before-and-after photos of patients with similar conditions who received laser bra breast surgery and alternative surgical options. Inquire about the method of the procedure, type of anesthesia and possible complications from surgery. Ask for a list of pre-op and post-op instructions.

The location of the procedure is typically a hospital or outpatient surgery center. The surgical procedure takes about two hours and is often performed under general anesthesia while the patient is asleep. Patients typically return home within two hours after the procedure.

During the procedure, the same approach to incisions is used as in traditional breast reduction, breast lift or breast augmentation. The surgeon removes excess breast tissue as in breast reductions and breast lifts. Breast augmentation surgery requires the surgeon to insert implants through the incisions for breast enhancement, then the doctor then applies the laser to the outermost tissue layer, which creates an internal bra so that more firmness is achieved to support the remaining inner tissue or implant.

The laser bra breast procedure differs from traditional cosmetic breast surgeries, which means the nipple is not affected in surgery-a benefit for patients concerned about nipple sensitivity and breastfeeding.

After Laser Bra Surgery: What to Expect

Recovery from the laser bra surgical procedure is typically the same as most other breast augmentation surgeries, which is five to seven days. Patients can resume normal activities within three weeks. The doctor will supply complete instructions that must be followed to avoid the risk of complication. You might be fitted with a medical garment to wear at all times other than bathing (sponge bath), until your doctor determines it is no longer needed. Minimal pain, swelling and bruising can occur, but they can be managed with medications and proper care. Restrictions include no exercise and no lifting of 10 pounds or more. The most common but infrequent complications include infection, bleeding and excessive scarring.
