Phytoestrogen
Let’s be honest ladies, we’re not all happy with the
size of our breasts. And that’s perfectly understandable.
We all know we have the option of having breast implants; however,
a number of people can’t afford the cost of surgery, fear
it and/or would prefer a less drastic solution. There are other
alternatives to going under the knife including natural alternatives
such as phytoestrogens. Phytoestrogens are natural compounds with
a chemical structure similar to estrogen.
The
word phytoestrogen is a combination of the Greek word “phyto”
meaning plant and the word “estrogen” because of its
ability to affect estrogenic activity in the body. Phytoestrogens
are a group of compounds found in plants that are able to bind to
receptor sites and produce one of two effects: pro-estrogenic or
anti-estrogenic, depending on how much estrogen your body already
produces. Hundreds of plants contain phytoestrogens, some of which
are familiar to us such as licorice, soybeans, flaxseeds, red clover,
black cohosh, lentils, chickpeas, tofu, alfalfa, sunflower, pumpkin
and sesame seeds.
Phytoestrogens are also responsible for the following positive
effects:
- a lower rate of female-related cancer, in particular breast,
endometrial and uterine cancer.
- a reduced risk of stroke
- a decrease in the symptoms of menopause
- the regulation of menstrual cycles
- a reduction in the risk of heart disease and osteoporosis
- an aid in keeping skin, hair, and nails in good shape.
- the promotion of hormone balance resulting in larger, firmer
breast tissue.
As previously stated, phytoestrogens act as a natural alternative
to breast enhancement. Through the natural balance of female hormones,
they promote the development of glandular breast tissue. Most of
the women who take herbs that contain these phytoestrogens notice
a significant increase in size and firmness of their breasts.
